GRADING POLICIES
Statewide Uniform Grading Scale
The school will follow the statewide uniform grading scale as approved by the state board of education. This uniform grading scale and the system for calculating GPAs and class rank will apply to all courses carrying Carnegie units, including units earned at the middle/junior high school level.
Scale Weights
A 90-100
B 80-89
C 70-79
D 60-69
F 0-59
Major Grades 60%
Minor Grades 40%
All students must have an average of 90% or higher to exempt end of course final exams OR 80% or higher with perfect attendance.
COSMETOLOGY PATHWAY
Prerequisites: Courses taken sequentially;
Cosmetology 2 – Pass Cosmetology 1 with a minimum of a 75 average and a minimum of 250 clock hours
Cosmetology 3 – Pass Cosmetology 2 with a minimum of a 75 average and a minimum of 500 clock hours
Cosmetology 4 – Pass Cosmetology 3 with a minimum of a 75 average and a minimum of 750 clock hours
Completer Requirements: (1000 Cosmetology hours and 540 Academic hours equals 1540 hours required and a minimum of 8 units to be a completer.)
HEALTH SCIENCE PATHWAY
Prerequisites are as follows:
Health Science 1- one high school Science credit (this no longer has to be Biology 1)
Health Science 2- a passing grade of 75 in HS1 or approval of the instructor and one high school science credit
Human Structure, Function and Disease or Medical Terminology- a passing grade of 75 in HS2 or approval of the instructor and one high school science credit
Health Science Clinical Studies- students should be a completer prior to starting the course
Sports Medicine 1- one high school Science credit (this no longer has to be Biology 1)
Sports Medicine 2- a passing grade of 75 in SM1 or approval of the instructor and one high school science credit
Sports Medicine 3- a passing grade of 75 in SM2 or approval of the instructor and one high school science credit
